“Roland, where are you taking me, who the hell is Ignis?” I said in confusion of my AI’s choice in words.

“Talus, the “black mech is coming your way!” I heard Lucas say over the intercom.
“Black mech, could it be the, no it couldn’t be.” Yuras was saying under his breath.
“What the hell are you talking about” I said before I was interrupted by the AI on the Ignis.
<IT’S HIM, UMBRA!!! FINALLY SOME ACTION!>
“What?” It was all I could say before the Ignis took off at full speed.
<ACTIVATING FLARE BEACON SIGNAL>
“So I was right, the Umbra was that black mech from earlier.” Yuras continued to say under his breath.

“Admiral there seems to be something wrong with the system?” one of the support crew members said worried.
“What’s going on, give me status report!” I ordered.
“Sir, the FLARE Assault Pack is being activated!”
“What! How?” I practically barked out the orders.
“It’s being activated from the planet below, sir; it’s coming from the Ignis.”
“There’s no way it would activate unless… the Umbra!” I realized. “Get us to low orbit then launch FLARE!”
“Yes sir!” The crew said before getting back to their panels. “All crew prepare for atmospheric reentry!”
“There’s going to be hell to pay for this; that damned X squad!” I shouted in frustration.

“Hey can you get under control already!” I shouted at the AI.

“It’s like a bloodlust…” I contemplated.
Code FLARE activated.
“What the hell is code flare!?” I asked.
“It’s the Assault Pack for the Ignis, though it’s mostly just for flight instead of combat.”
“What idiot made an Assault Pack that isn't used for combat?”
“I don’t know, but the fact that it’s coming must mean that your AI activated it remotely.”
“Talus, do you read me?” Lucas said over the com channel.
“What is it, I’m trying to get control over my crazy AI!”
“AI, so the Ignis is also equipped with an AI as well?” He said calmly. “Never mind, that black machine is heading your way.”
<That bastard, the Umbra, I’m going to kick his ass!>
The black mech landed right in front of us.
“Oh crap!” I said aloud, practically shitting bricks.

“Fly, now that’s awesome!”
“Um… not to be a downer, but do you even know how to fly in planetary gravity?” Yuras asked me.
The AI said.
“Ah shut up! I can still learn!”
<Look it’s easy, just use twice the force that you would in space and keep it up, or else you’ll fall back down.>
“Just use the FLARE’s auto-flight system kid.” The unknown pilot said.
“Auto-flight?”
AUTO-FLIGHT ACTIVATED ENTERING TARGET… UCF OBLIVION
“The thrusters are activating on their own!”

“Alright kid, I’ll see you onboard.”
The black mech took off with a powerful pulse that shook away the debris around it.
“Was that an anti-gravity booster!?” Yuras said surprised.
The boosters took us up and we started to fly towards the Oblivion.
“Sorry guys, I guess I’ll see you all onboard!”
“I’ll be sure to take this bastard in for his cowardice.” Lucas said. “Father shall find a suitable punishment for him.”
“We’ll see you in the medical bay after we get back.” Sam said.

“Roland, I’ll let you take care of the maintenance while I go report to the Captain.
=Alright then, try not to piss of the commanding officer this time.=
“I can’t help it if they’re idiots.” I said mocking what he said.
The best thing about these Titan class ships is while they are quite huge, the path to the bridge is always the same as all of the Titan classes. And trust me, I’ve been on all of them, though this is the first time I’ve been on the Oblivion, commanded by the first Beastmen Admiral.
5 minutes later
Umm ok, maybe this one isn’t like the other ones…
“Where the hell am I?”
“Hey, are you lost?” A voice said behind me.
“Oh, um yeah!” I said embarrassed. “I guess the Oblivion is a bit more complicated than the other Titan classes.” “Do you mind taking me to the Bridge?”
“No problem, I was on my way there.” The young wolf Beastman told me.
A quick walk to a nearby elevator and quick and quiet walk and we made it to the bridge.
“Oh, the Captain isn't on deck.”
“Captain on deck!” A nearby aide called out.
A quick salute is practically second nature for all the soldier in the Federation military.
“At ease men, now then Lucas, welcome back.” The captain said calmly.
“Thank you father, the Aeirin is an excellent model, and the AI is near perfection.”
This kid is the admiral’s son!!!
“Good, now then if you would take your leave, the Lieutenant and I have much to discuss, I also believe that your comrades are waiting in the Med Bay.”
“As you wish, father”
With that the kid leaves. Now for my usual scolding.
“Now then Lieutenant Dragul, tell me, JUST WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU DOING HERE!”
Now that hurt my ears.
“Another thing, take off that ridicules mask!”
Sigh… hitting a button on the side of the mask releases the side and I slide it behind my head.
“So then, another surprise from X Squad, half Beastman, and half Tharxian, interesting.”
My heritage… usually I always want to forget it. My mother was a Tharxian noble, while my father was a lowborn Fox Beastman, making me the first hybrid in X squad. Needless to say she wasn’t much of a noble afterwards…
“Now then, do you know how many GC Troopers died because of the Umbra and your reckless actions?”
“According to Roland’s projections, there would be around 10-20% death rate from firing the dark cannons into the city.”
“And yet you did it anyways!”
“His projections also said that if we had not used the cannons that there would be a 50% death rate at the very least.”
“So you used your judgment instead of contacting the commander of this operation.”
“As a member of X squad allows me to use my own discretion without any problem or need to contact a commanding officer.”
He sighs and sits in his chair.
“Is that all sir?” I ask.
“Just get the hell off my bridge, and when we get to the next base, I want you off my ship.” He said exasperated.
“Yes sir.”
Afterwards, I put my mask back on, no need for other people besides the bridge crew to find out what I am. From there I head to the cafeteria to get my rations and headed back to the Repair bay.

“Hey relax Talus, I’ll just be out of combat for a few months.” Dante said trying to shake off his injuries.
“Just take care of yourself, Dante, the medics at the base will take good care of you.” Mira said.
“Hey Sargent Yao, what about me, I’m the reason that we made it back in the first place.” Private Yuras said.
“Ah it’s just a dislocated shoulder, and the protein deficiency for using your true form” Mira said.
“True form?” Sam and I asked.
“Oh, that’s right, you guy’s probably don’t know much about Tharxian biology.” She said.
“Well you see while they have the usual Elf like appearance with the whole pointy ears and effeminate body, their true form is several feet taller and the muscle mass increases by at least 150%.”
“How much is it that you can lift man?” I ask inquisitively.
“About 350 pounds by Earth standards.” He said. “Though that’s almost nothing back on Tharxia.”
“Which is why most other species have to wear a special power suit to survive in the gravity.” Mira said.
“Hey, I’m not missing anything am I?” Lucas said after entering the room.
“Not much, how was the Admiral, did he say when we’re headed back to base?” I asked.
“Not yet, though I did run into some shady pilot, I overheard my father say that he was from X Squad.”
“He’s probably the pilot of that black mech!” Sam yelled out in anger. “I’m going to kick his ass for what he did!”
“Good luck with that, he’s a lieutenant, and an X Squad member.” Lucas rationalized.
“I’m going to go check on Aurora, maybe she unlocked something new.”
“You named her Aurora?” Sam asked.
“It’s cute right?”
To be honest I gave it to her just to annoy her.
ATTENTION ALL CREW MEMBERS, WE’LL BE ENTERING HYPERSPACE SOON. ALL HANDS TO GRAVITY ENHANCED ZONES
“I guess we should head back for our quarters.” Lucas said while shrugging.
“Hey, brother, you don’t mind if I stick around?” Sam asked.
“No probs, sis, Mira, you have any problems?”
“None, I’m going to get some sleep then” Mira said walking out. “See you guys when it’s time for morning rations.”
Afterwards we headed back to the crew quarters, on the way we met “him”. The pilot that would change my life forever.

“Oh hey there, you’re the rookie piloting the Ignis, right?” I asked. “Shouldn’t you be getting to the quarters, then again I should as well.”
“I want to know, why is it that you chose to shoot that beam on the city!?”
“Because it was the best thing I could do, anything less would have cost more lives, you have an AI, right?” I asked.
“Uh, yeah”
I raised my wristcom and tapped the screen.
“Roland, transfer mission data to the pilot of the Ignis, use my authorization code.”
=As you wish sir.=

“It is, take a look at the data kid.” “Tell me what you think of it later, I gotta get to the X Squad quarters, you should get to yours, which is what?”
“Alpha!” His tail was wagging.
“Heh, your interesting kid, you know what, how bout after we get out of Hyperspace I ask the Admiral to let me take you out on a training mission.” I told him. Damn tail of mine was wagging a little.
“Really!” His eyes were practically shining.
“Well I can’t say no to that face.”
“Awesome, thanks man!” He started running towards the barracks for his squad.
=Are you sure it was wise to tell him so much, Ymir?=
“Not sure yet, but I’d like to see what the Ignis’ ZERO System can do, after all, the Captain wanted intel on the newest X-Type S.A.M..

EMD COMMUNICATION…
It's been a pretty long time since I posted anything even related to this series of mine, but since I've hit a serious writers block with D&D Chronicles trying to make sure that I don't accidentally create a new plot hole in a series that I've made for closing plot holes. And with school starting up again for the semester I may actually take even more time now to come up with the next chapter of it. This is pretty much something that I was working on a good while back but I finally fixed my problems with it and I got to writing this chapter. So for now enjoy the new chapter of MechForce. I'm not really used to using this writing style so sorry if there's any problems, nothing some constructive criticism can't fix.
